eloquent thoughts on the symbolism of jazz and New Orleans on NPR's

On the other hand, New York City is in fine shape these days except for
one legendary music spot on the Bowery. CBGB's, the birthplace of
punk, has lost its lease, and its landlord has refused to renew it
despite pleas from the music community and many members of the city
